Inspired by favorite challenges, students will design and develop their way through favorite TV show challenges. Activities include building a Ninja course element, building a "cake" that has special effects, and designing a Lego suspension bridge, as well as popular STEAM challenges! Design, Build, Compete!

Design, engineer, and build cardboard creations. Put your skills and imagination to the test while building out-of-this-world projects. Discover how cardboard is made and uncover how it is used all around us. Build a bridge and test how much weight it will support. Create a 9-hole mini-golf course and compete in a golf tournament.

Coil, throw, fire, stain, and glaze away your week. Detailed exploration of clay will inspire young artists to get their hands dirty and learn a new skill. Student's use their hands, extruder, slab roller, and wheel to transform clay, creating a portfolio of projects to display on the final day.

Computer Programming in Video Games & E-Sports

Investigate a variety of popular video games and discuss what makes them ideal for Esports. Explore systematic strategy and tactics to improve your play. When not playing discuss a variety of computer languages and practice computer programming. Develop basic and intermediate skills programmers apply to develop the Metagame. Apply this knowledge and advance your programming skills to design a game in Roblox Studio. Throughout the week discuss issues concerning video games in our society today such as stereotyped characters, addiction, and gaming as an evolving art form. Gamers and non-gamers are welcome and encouraged to take this course. This course is only offered once this summer and taught by computer programmer Matias Seibert. Matias is a trained programmer and spends his free time mastering Super Smash Bros.

Build a various projects utilizing many different tools and techniques. Discover the science necessary to overcome friction and gravity as you build transportation vehicles. Design and build vehicles controlled by wind, engineer and build a carnival game, and construct and code an interactive story map with Ozobot robots. Design and draw blueprints for a birdhouse, create a budget and build your creation. Interact with City Design to integrate projects for the weeks capstone project.
